Asset Library in SharePoint Server 2010



Asset Library allows you to create a rich media library and lets you create, browse, share, organize and manage images, audio and video files.
Only these formats can be played by the Media Player Web part.
  •   Windows Media Audio (WMA)
  •    Windows Media Video (WMV)
  •     ISO/MPEG Layer-3(MP3) 
Creating Asset Library:

1. Go to SharePoint Central Administration and Navigate to specific site

2. Go to Site Actions ->More Options


3. Select Asset Library from the Library .Enter a name to the Library. And click on Create button.


4. After creating Employee Assets Library you can able to see it under Libraries Section on Quick Launch Bar.


5. By clicking on Add new item it will allow you to upload a file.


6. After uploading the files you can able to see all the files.

7. If you try to upload any document other than audio, video and image file it will show the below error.


8.If you keep cursor on any file you can able to see the properties  as shown below



9. After you have uploaded all kinds of documents. Go to Library Settings


10.Click on Metadata Navigation Settings under General Settings.

11. On clicking on Metadata Navigation Settings you will get like this.


12. Select Content Type field in Available Hierarchy Fields to selected Hierarchy Fields and Select Content Type and Date Picture Taken Fields to Selected Key Filter Fields by clicking on Add Button.

13. Go to Employee Asset Library you can able to see a hierarchical menu on the Quick Launch.


14. You can apply filters based on Content Type and/or Date Picture Taken.


It is an excellent way to store your digit assets including images, audio and videos.
